Saturday Newsletter: Sonnets

I’m a day late with my newsletter, but nevertheless, the show must go on! While Cardio and Rep have been filling my days, another project has been on the back burner in my daily life.

My sister approached me about what she wanted for her birthday and she surprised me with a set of sonnets written by me. At first, I was excited. Poems? Amazing, I can write that any day. But then it occurred to me that I actually don’t know how to write a sonnet or even how to properly say the word sonnet. I knew they were related to Shakespeare.

Which then started me on a path of how to write a sonnet. The format I went with is below:

And Oh boy, did it look easy on paper but I soon found out, I was never one for rules so I didn’t even know what to focus on. The metaphor? The pattern? But I decided to take an hour and just try to write one and I did. I showed my sister this one already so I can share it with everyone without ruining the surprise.

She loved it. So this is my newsletter and message for you guys. To try something new. No matter how uncomfortable it makes you. I am learning to love sonnets and maybe one day I can be my own Shakespear and have my own publish set. But for right now, I will stick to working on my sister birthday gift.

Thank you all and hope this newsletter finds you safe and happy.
